Durif/Petit Syrah
This variety was originally named Durif, after its developer, however it has been relabelled Petit Syrah throughout the US. The wines often have black pepper overtones and sometimes have a herbal or green character. The wines made from Durif are usually firm, full flavoured wines, rich in tannins, with an unexpected degree of acidity.
